Our representatives attended the final event of the SILENT project, which supports hearing families of deaf children through early intervention, accessible education, and sign language learning. The event gathered all the relevant stakeholders, from parents to educators as well as professionals, members, and policy-makers representing the deaf community to share insights and best practices.
Highlights included an initial keynote by experts where research showed the importance of early intervention to ensure deaf children can have larger vocabulary and pragmatic skills.
Moreover, during the “World Café” session we covered project implementation (that included the development of e-learning modules in promoting accessible and inclusive education), family needs, Deaf identity and underlined also the pivotal role deaf people need to play not only in the implementation but also in the design phase of such projects.
The event concluded with networking and final reflections, offering a unique opportunity to engage with like-minded individuals who strive to amplify the voices of the most vulnerable and spread awareness on this crucial issue while ensuring best practices can be reiterated by everyone.
