In March, a representative of Connect participated in the The Pact for Skills webinar on “The use of micro-credentials to support upskilling and reskilling.”
The meeting brought together experts from diverse sectors and backgrounds who shared best practices and insights on the implementation of micro-credentials across various contexts, including automotive, microelectronics, cybersecurity and vocational training. The presentations underscored the importance of introducing such innovative approaches to guarantee that workers effectively adapt to evolving technological advancements and new challenges in general.
Later on, the event included a breakout group session where participants discussed their ideas and views on the use of micro-credentials to support upskilling and reskilling through the Pact.
As already highlighted in the “Safeguarding young people’s education and employment in the AI era” policy recommendation, Connect believes that upskilling and reskilling programs, offering agile and targeted pathways for skill development of workers in an ever-changing labour market, are key to mitigate displacement and ensure employment and livelihood for young people.
