Our webinar “Gender Inequality in the Cyberspace” took place on Monday 27.7.2020, gathering together participants from all around Europe. We have commented on the statistics that follow the topic, analyzed the forms of digital gender divide, searched the causes and reasons that lead to this phenomenon and explored its various forms. Following, we dived into the dark waters of gender violence in the digital world – probably the most important consequence of gender inequality online-, explaining and clarifying some unfamiliar and confusing terms, while presenting some up-to-date numbers of the public’s energetic and pathetic participation to the phenomenon. After commenting on real cases and incidents of online gender violence, we have gone through the official topic-related objectives of the Council of Europe and discussed its existing documentation, closing with some recommendations and solutions for policy makers and other stakeholders involved to deal with the issue. Participants had the chance to share their views, express their personal opinions and bring up questions, contributing to a very interesting and fruitful conversation.
