UpDatAed Training for Peer Advisors held in Belgrade

Training for Peer Advisors within the project “UpDatAed – Towards digitally safe youth organizations” was held in Belgrade, Serbia, from 13th till 19th September 2019. The goal of it was to help youth organizations to implement standards, methods, and tools described in the UpDatAed Guide in their daily work by empowering a group of young people to become peer advisors. These peer advisors will form a pool of experts with a task of providing a support to youth organizations in their efforts to protect data and privacy of their users, staff and stakeholders. In this manner the ownership of the Guide will be multiplied to the highest possible extent.

The training was attended by youth workers, trainers, online activists and representatives of youth organizations and institutions from all around Europe. By using non-formal education methods the participants had a chance to get a step by step introduction to all chapters of the Guide through four learning blocks. They started with analyzing organizational data infrastructure, then proceeded with learning about the human rights of internet users and the ways GDPR regulation is implemented and how to create internal procedures rulebook for organizations. The final learning block of the training was dedicated to helping participants understand project management procedures for data collection.

The project “UpDatAed – Towards digitally safe youth organizations” is supported by European Youth Foundation of the Council of Europe and Friedrich Naumann Foundation for Freedom.
