The webinar “Digital Youth Work – Opportunities and Challenges” was held on Friday, June 12, via the ZOOM platform. Participants from all around Europe have attended the Webinar and were introduced to the definitions of digital rights and digital youth work as opposed to youth work in the physical world. The main speaker of the Webinar, Christina Sarantidou, graduate of the School of Law, Aristotle University of Thessaloniki Greece, with an LL.M. from Northwestern University of Chicago, Il (USA), who also shares relevant experience in the youth field, presented the existing regulatory framework (“soft law”) related to the topic and opened a “cyber” debate on the most popular digital tools amongst youngsters, as well as on possible applications of digital youth work, where participants were offered the chance to express their opinions and perspectives using interactive tools. Finally, the speaker opened a discussion about the benefits, risks and challenges related to digital youth work, with special reference to the COVID-19 pandemic era and concluded by presenting suggestions on key principles to be followed in order to mitigate these risks.

The webinar was interactive with the use of several digital tools and participants were able to ask the speaker for clarifications and share their comments about the topic. At the end, the power point presentation used in the Webinar was shared with the participants to freely use it as a guide in their work.
