The webinar “Fighting Disinformation – working with young people on Digital Literacy” was held on Tuesday, July 29th via the ZOOM platform. More than 30 participants from all around Europe have attended the Webinar and had the opportunity to explore the influence of the digital world on disinformation and digital literacy. They were introduced to the definitions of dis-information, mis-information and mal-information, while all relevant aspects of these phenomena were thoroughly analyzed. Participants had the chance to explore how fake news are created, produced and distributed, along with all other related topics regarding wistleblowing, access to information and transparency. The speaker of the Webinar, Flutura Kusari, Legal Advisor at the European Centre for Press and Media Freedom, introduced several tools on how to recognize, critically assess and become a fighter of disinformation, not only in order to limit and prevent the phenomena, but also to protect themselves from possible harm. Additionally, participants were presented several case studies to discuss and comment in an open discussion and were able to ask the speaker for clarifications and share their comments about the topic. At the end, the power point presentation used in the Webinar was shared with the participants to freely use it as a guide in their work.
