The COVID 19 pandemic has demonstrated to all of us active in the youth sector something that has become apparent even to those who are the most opposed to digitalization and modern technologies – youth work is increasingly moving online. The transfer of youth organization’s entire work and activities from in-person to online form during the lockdown in such an abrupt manner left many youth workers unable to properly provide services to their users and stakeholders. Ad-hoc solutions that were devised in the beginning of the 2020 proved that it is not so simple to transfer in-person non formal education methodologies into a virtual form. These ad-doc solutions “forced” youth organizations to depend on digital tools with serious privacy policy issues and, on the other hand, due to the inadequate digitalization of NFE methodologies their online sessions ended up looking more formal than school lectures. Therefore, there is an urgent need to develop the skills to transfer sessions usually held in-person into digital ones, including training in online tools and explaining methodological changes in conducting NFE sessions.

This document will guide you through the process of setting up, implementing and successfully finalizing online events and activities and will introduce you to the best and safest digital tools, apps and platforms that you could use in your work. You will also find suggestions and examples of methodologies you could use during online activities.
