The study Session “Soci@lise: Social Rights in Digital Era” was held from 12th to 18th July 2021 in European Youth Center in Budapest, Hungary. The event was organized by CONNECT International and Youth Express Network with the support of the Youth Department of the Council of Europe.
In total 19 participants from 13 European countries participated in the Study Session. They gathered to discuss how human, social and youth rights have been affected and transformed by digitalization during the pandemic. The participants had a chance to analyze both positive and negative aspects of digitalization when it comes to equality, education, social security and access to public services in order to come up with ideas how to effectively minimize negative effects. During the event participants have worked together with experts to created policy recommendations aimed at ensuring that the protection of digital rights of young people are always taken into consideration when making decisions about further digitization practices. They also learned about the importance of advocacy in promoting digital rights as an important aspect of youth rights and social rights safeguarding.
