Call for YOUTH EDUCATORS @ “EuropeansAgainst Fake News” Online Event

Are you a youth educator willing to take part in tackling fake news and disinformation?

Do you like to work in a collaborative and creative environment?

Are you ready to exchange your knowledge and support young people in learning about fake news and inspire them to be active citizens?

If your answer to these questions is YES, you are the right address – the one that will help you achieve your ambitions!

How will we do this?

We are organizing a two-day online Europeans Against Fake News (EAF) event, where we will bring together a large number of young people and engage them in a discussion about fake news that surrounds us in the online sphere. Through the series of creative activities adapted to online working conditions, we will work on enhancing their media literacy and inspiring the critical thinking of young people to enable them to learn how to recognize, debunk, and deconstruct fake news. As the final output of the event, we will create a set of hilarious memes intending to spark public discussion about online disinformation, and how to prevent it. The event will address fake news on 4 thematic units in which the majority of the fake news today is created:

  1. Fundamental rights in the time of Covid-19
  2. Climate cha(lle)nge
  3. Migration: “Hometown of disinformation and populist campaigns”
  4. Euroscepticism as a democratic barrier

If you decide to become part of our EAF team, we are offering you to:

  • learn about new creative methodologies in working with young people,
  • exchange with youth educators from all across Europe,
  • meet with media experts from various fields who will bring fake news closer to young people,
  • establish a wide network of partners and experts that will allow you to expand your work and enhance your understanding of diverse national realities on the topic.

Once selected, you will receive a quick capacity-building program that will boost your skills and allow you to engage in the implementation of EAF events! As a youth educator, you will have a critical role in supporting participants of the event as someone who will inspire young people to comprehend the fake news and creatively express themselves by addressing the fake news content. Here, your skills and expertise in non-formal and experiential educational approaches will be used. But don’t worry in advance about the process, we will be there to boost your skills and make you ready for your active participation at the online EAF event.

Let’s talk a little bit about the criteria that you should meet to be able to become a youth educator.
