Summary of Backslash’s Activities 2024

2024 has been a year full of learning, collaborations and great achievements in our projects. We are proud of the positive impact we have made on young people, and we want to share with you the highlights of this year:

Promoting mental health and wellbeing

As part of the Confident project, we held the ‘Youth in Balance’ event at the Casa de Cultura in Quart de Poblet, where we explored the impact of social media and sport on mental health. It was a day of reflection and learning with the enthusiastic participation of the youth community and youth professionals from different localities in Valencia.

At the Massanassa Youth Centre, we organised training sessions on mental health under the Safe Space For Youth project. These activities helped to raise awareness of the importance of emotional well-being in the daily lives of young people and empowered the youth who normally participate in the centre, encouraging them to generate their own awareness session and implement it with other young people in the locality.

Quality education and combating fake news

The Before They Hate project led us to organise a workshop in Valencia, where we trained youth professionals to combat hate speech. In addition, we gave a session at the María Auxiliadora School in Algemesí, focused on critical thinking and the fight against fake news within the Europeans Against Fake News project.

On the other hand, our Quality Education Workshop in Valencia brought together young people from all over Europe for three days to share innovative methodologies and promote learning, all within the framework of our EUYouth4EUGoals project.

We were honoured to participate in the Cities of Learning seminar in Eindhoven. During this meeting, we explored new ways to design learning experiences that empower youth and promote their active participation in their communities.

Promoting entrepreneurship and employability

With the Entrepreneurship Training for NEETs project, we conducted the workshop ‘Exploring Opportunities’ to promote social entrepreneurship among young people. During this online session, we shared key tools and strategies to improve employability.

We also conducted a study, framed in the AI4Youth project, analysing the usefulness, advantages and disadvantages of the use of Artificial Intelligence in the work environment and how we can use this tool to help young people in their working and educational lives.

Digitalisation and collaborative work

The Digital You project allowed us to organise two online networking fairs on 11 April and 12 June. This event connected organisations from all over Europe to share good practices in the digitisation of youth work.

At the E-Coach Multiplier Event, we explored digital coaching certifications and their impact on youth. This event took place on 17 October in Valencia and was a space of inspiration and knowledge.

Enhancing the value of digital volunteering

As part of the E-volunteering project, 5 Spanish participants had the opportunity to be trained in Belgrade with other participants from different European countries to learn how to implement digital volunteering practices in their organisations.

In addition, an online event was organised in October bringing together international organisations to discuss the standardisation and recognition of online volunteering. This space allowed us to advance the valorisation of these experiences as an integral part of youth development.

See you in 2025 with more transformative projects and activities!
