A representative of Connect International attended the Just Transition Platform Conference celebrating its 5th anniversary, organized by DG REGIO of the European Commission in Brussels.

The conference brought together stakeholders from across Europe to reflect on five years of supporting regions in their transition towards climate neutrality while ensuring no one is left behind.

The event featured: 

● Progress reports on the Just Transition Mechanism and regional transformation 

● Panel discussions on financing instruments and regional development strategies 

● Networking opportunities with European Commission officials, regional authorities, and civil society organizations 

● Insights into upcoming funding opportunities and policy frameworks for sustainable transition

This conference provided valuable opportunities for Connect International to engage with key stakeholders at the European level, particularly within DG REGIO and partner organizations working on territorial cohesion and sustainable development. Understanding the Just Transition framework and its implementation across European regions enables us to better support our network in accessing relevant funding mechanisms and building partnerships that advance equitable, sustainable transformation.

The knowledge gained strengthens our capacity to guide organizations working at the intersection of regional development, social inclusion, and climate action, ensuring our members can effectively contribute to and benefit from Europe’s transition towards climate neutrality.
