Representatives of Connect International attended the New Inherit Final Conference “Breathing New Life into Historic Spaces” at TRACK Brussels North Station, organized by YEU in collaboration with Urban Foxes.

The conference showcased the achievements of New Inherit, recently recognized as a top 10 best practice project co-funded by Creative Europe. The project focuses on the adaptive reuse of cultural heritage spaces by and for young people across six historic buildings in Brussels, Weimar, Nicosia, Sofia, Palermo, and Murcia.

The day-long event featured: 

● Interactive presentation of project results and outcomes

● Testimonials from Cultural Ambassadors at six testbed locations 

● Panel discussion on adaptive reuse and co-creation of cultural spaces

This conference aligns with Connect International’s commitment to supporting innovative approaches to cultural heritage preservation and youth engagement. The New Inherit project demonstrates how historic spaces can be transformed into vibrant community hubs, fostering new cultural and social life while preserving architectural legacy.

The insights gained will enhance our capacity to support organizations working at the intersection of cultural heritage, youth empowerment, and community development, enabling us to better guide our network in creating sustainable, inclusive spaces.
