A representative of CONNECT International attended the re-opening reception of the Permanent Representation of Finland to the European Union in Brussels. The reception marked the completion of the renovation of the Representation’s premises and brought together partners and stakeholders for an evening dedicated to renewed cooperation and exchange.
The programme opened with a seminar by the Finnish Innovation Fund Sitra, focusing on megatrends, foresight and the future of the European Union. The session offered an opportunity to reflect on the long-term developments shaping European societies and on the importance of looking beyond immediate challenges when considering Europe’s future.
Foresight is becoming increasingly relevant in a rapidly changing environment shaped by technological development, demographic change, evolving democratic participation and wider societal transformation. Sitra’s work in this area explores how long-term trends can be better understood and used to support future-oriented decision-making. More about its work on the topic is available through Sitra’s foresight programme.
For CONNECT International, these discussions are closely connected to our work at the intersection of digital transformation, youth participation, civil society and European cooperation. Understanding emerging trends and their potential impact is particularly important when developing approaches that ensure technological and societal change remains inclusive, rights-based and responsive to the needs of young people and communities.
The reception also provided a valuable space for exchange with stakeholders working across the European landscape and for strengthening connections around shared questions concerning Europe’s future.
CONNECT International thanks the Permanent Representation of Finland to the EU for the invitation and congratulates the team on the re-opening of its renovated premises. We look forward to continuing the dialogue around foresight, digital transformation and meaningful cooperation across Europe.
