This week, a representative from Connect International attended the final conference of the Media Masters project, held in Brussels, marking the conclusion of a three-year EU-funded initiative dedicated to media literacy and democratic resilience.

The discussion focused on some of the most pressing challenges facing our democracies today:

• Encouraging young people to participate in democratic life and equipping them with practical tools to identify and counter misinformation online,
• The balance between regulation and freedom of speech, where to draw the line in the fight against disinformation without compromising fundamental rights,
• How to recognize and classify fake news, particularly in democratic and political contexts.

We are very pleased to have been invited to this important event. Projects like Media Masters are completely in line with Connect International’s mission to advocate for a fair, transparent, and rights-based digital public sphere.
