This week, a representative from Connect participated in the event “From Research to Sovereignty in the Digital Public Sphere – Insights from the TWON Project” held at the KBR Royal Library in Brussels.

The goal of the event was to present the results of the EU-funded TWON project, which uses innovative “digital twin” simulations to study how platform architecture and algorithms influence democratic discourse and exposure to harmful content. The discussion focused on how Europe can strengthen its digital sovereignty and develop evidence-based platform governance.

This initiative aligns perfectly with Connect’s vision and mission to advocate for a fair, transparent, and rights-based digital public sphere. By bridging the gap between scientific research and policy enforcement, we can better protect fundamental rights and democratic values online.
