The project “Coping with challenging behaviour in youth work” (2023-1-BG01-KA220-YOU-000156252), funded by the Erasmus+ Programme, was implemented by a European partnership led by the National Association of Resource Teachers in partnership with Copenhagen Youth Network – Denmark, CENTAR ZA MLADINSKI AKTIVIZAM CMA KRIK – North Macedonia, Monikom – North Macedonia, REGIONALNE CENTRUM WOLONTARIATU
– Poland and ASD CYB SPORT YOGA DANZA E BENESSERE – Italy. The project aimed to strengthen youth work practices by introducing innovative and holistic approaches for supporting young people who experience emotional, behavioural, and social challenges.
One of the main results of the project is the development of several practical resources designed to improve the competencies of youth workers and support the emotional wellbeing of young people. These include a digital tool for personal development and mental health , which encourages self-reflection, emotional awareness, and resilience. In addition, the project produced a series of short educational videos focusing on emotional intelligence, stress management, and resilience-building skills.
Another important result is the creation of a training curriculum for youth workers, combining theoretical knowledge with practical methods. The training introduces innovative approaches such as body–mind techniques, digital storytelling, experiential learning, and reflective practices, helping youth workers better understand and respond to challenging behaviour among young people.
The project also developed guidelines for working with young people, highlighting the importance of individualized approaches, active listening, the creation of safe and supportive environments, and the promotion of emotional development and self-esteem.
To test and promote the developed resources, two international training activities were organised for youth workers and young people. The first training took place in Prato, Italy, where participants tested the project’s digital tools and video materials through interactive sessions, practical exercises, and discussions. The second training was held in North Macedonia, bringing together youth workers and experts from five European countries to exchange good practices and explore strategies for working with young people facing emotional and behavioural challenges.
All developed tools and materials are available online https://ccbyerasmus.com/ and remain accessible for youth workers, educators, and organisations, ensuring the long-term impact and sustainability of the project results.
