The (Re)Turning Digital project is pleased to announce the completion of its Research Report on the needs and challenges of adult education stakeholders in the use of digital technologies..

The research was conducted between December 2024 and January 2025 through one-on-one interviews with 22 stakeholders from Slovenia, Serbia, and North Macedonia, representing educational institutions, civil society organizations, private companies, and government bodies.

What Did the Research Find?

The report confirmed that significant obstacles hinder the effective use of digital technologies in adult education. Most educators feel confident in basic digital tasks, but nearly 60% struggle with resolving technical issues independently, and familiarity with concepts like AI bias and deepfakes remains very limited. 86% of respondents believe existing tools need improvement, while 45% have never participated in any relevant capacity-building activities. Ethical understanding is present but uneven, and no respondent reported high familiarity with curricula specifically designed for adult education using advanced digital technologies.

These findings will directly shape the development of the project’s training curricula, educator manual, and ethical guidelines, all to be published on the Turning Digital platform.
